Toby Simmons isn't your ordinary Baker, he is a Master Pie Maker...
Mr.Simmons is considered by some to be the creator of the most outstanding, deliciously decadent desserts.
Why did Mr.Simmons decide to focus on pies?
For years his friends and family suggested he share his wonderful creations with an appreciative clientele, so that they too could bring home and enjoy the extra special goodness that makes Toby's pies stand so far above the others. Eventually, motivated by his family Toby put his "Pie Plan" into action.
Like all great businesses, he started with an idea and perfected it. Initially working from his home, he created recipes based on the finest fresh ingredients. For instance, Toby insists on genuine North Carolina sweet potatoes, for his sweet potato pie. Why North Carolina sweet potatoes? Toby says, "I have tried them all, these potatoes have a flavor and consistency that blends with my concept of what these pies need to be."
Sounds like a labor of love? "It is!" he professes. Toby continues, "Each pie is hand made by the Simmons Family. It took me over ten years just to perfect this Sweet Potato Pie. Love plays a big part in it. Love is our 'not-so secret' secret ingredient."
Toby and his children were soon selling his delicious pie creations at local Farmers Markets, and area festivals. The success was immediate; they sold out most every time. However, the great positive response from the public required quick action. The challenge was to keep up with the demand, and not compromise the quality, the consistency, nor the amazing taste. Clearly, The Simmons Family needed a larger place to create their extraordinary pies. Toby was up to the challenge; his ambition is shadowed only by his big heart.
The Charleston PieMan is Open for Business! Toby's business is growing, but his pies are still being made with the loving hands of the Charleston PieMan, the devoted Simmons Family and highly trained employees whose dedication to quality is paramount. In fact, one of the things Toby instructs new employees is to "Take this company, take these pies, and treat them as if they are your own." Every one who has a part in producing these pies is family. You can't miss that wonderful taste of devotion to quality in every scrumptious morsel of pie by The Charleston PieMan.
